The new hydraulics programme from Seldé
The Swedish rig manufacturer Seldén is expanding its programme to include a hydraulic system with backstay tensioners and boom vangs

Seldén is increasingly becoming a full-range supplier. After blocks and winches, the next step is hydraulics. The range includes cylinders with an integrated pump, which are often used as backstay tensioners, and remote-controlled versions controlled via a central pump panel. In addition, there are special boom vangs with an integrated return spring.

All pumps are equipped with an automatic two-speed system. In the first stage, the pump delivers a lot of oil in order toZylinder can be adjusted quickly. When a preset pressure is reached, the pump automatically changes the reduction ratio so that more force is generated. Double-acting pumps are installed in the panels, which means that they pump oil with every movement of the lever. Depending on the version, up to four different cylinders can be controlled. The maximum operating pressure is 345 bar.

The backstay tensioners are available in two sizes for wire diameters of 8 to 10 millimetres and 12 to 14 millimetres respectively. To enable reproducible trimming, they are equipped with a pressure gauge and the maximum tension on the stay can be regulated with an adjustable pressure relief valve. The small version with pump weighs 8.1 kilograms and the large version 13 kilograms. Without the pump, the cylinders weigh 4.3 kilograms and 8 kilograms respectively. Prices start at 2120 euros.
